about

Since it's inception as a label, Durkle Disco has prided itself on representing the full spectrum of electronic and bass music - with a hefty hip-hop influence thrown in for good measure.

After an excursion into the dark and dusty depths of 2-step on the imprint’s previous pair of singles, it's straight back to the 140bpm head bangers for the label’s latest release.

Label stalwart Unkey goes head-to-head with fellow Bristolian producer Daffy (who’s previously released on Plastician's Terrorhythm imprint) to deliver the 'Hustlin' EP' – a set of straight-up, no-nonsense grime rhythms made for the floor.

Title track 'Hustlin'' sets the tone, pairing Unkey's signature aggressive bass stabs with relentless military style drums, punctuated by a hypnotic Rick Ross sample.

'Night Terrors' ramps the energy up even further, pushing the grime sound to its limits. Unkey's solo offering 'Come To Bury You' is a more stripped-back, menacing affair, with a classic MC Bassman sample betraying the producer’s D&B roots.

The package also includes two remixes of 'Hustlin'. The first is provided by rising Nottingham-based producer Glacci - another artist who’s previously featured on Terrorhythm. His reworking crashes Baltimore club influences directly into the grime mix, while the second remix comes from Durkle artists Arkane Soul, who give the original their trademark purple-tinge.

Early support from Plastician, Starkey, Logan Sama, DJ Cable, GetDarker, BBC Bristol & more.
