For a label that prides itself on its multi-genre and often high energy approach to electronic music, it seemed almost inevitable that Durkle Disco would end up working with Fork and Knife. There’s no doubting the currently Bristol-based producer has an impeccable track record of churning out certified bangers for the likes of 4NC¥, 1Forty & In:Flux Audio. However, categorising them is a bit harder – his style being a melting pot made up of equal parts Grime, Garage & UK Funky; all genres close to Durkle hearts. For his debut on the label, Fork and Knife teams up with Gloucester MC Griz-O for the hard-hitting yet unashamedly fun ‘My Kinda Setting’. Griz-O is as prolific as he is versatile – as releases and co-signs from the likes of Duploc, Crucast & Gilles Peterson’s Brownswood imprint can attest. If his previous Durkle release ‘Night Steppa’ (alongside SPD) was an ode to post-club but pre-dawn antics and some of nightlife’s freakier inhabitants, then ‘My Kinda Setting’ is aimed squarely at the dancefloor, as Griz-O breaks down his kinda setting for a perfect night out.
