about

Whilst SOME1 may be a new name to most, you have almost certainly come across this London-based producer in another guise if you’ve been paying attention... They arrive on the scene here fully-formed, and backed with an arsenal of unique technicolour tracks that draw on some of the best strains of UK bass music – think dubstep, UK funky and electro for starters – whilst still sounding completely original. So expect this to become SOME1 you know over the coming months and years.

For his initial drop on Durkle Disco he has teamed up with Nottingham MC Snowy for the rumbling menace of ‘Lightning’, which has enjoyed early support on both BBC Radio 1 & Rinse FM. A dubstep-indebted shot of pure adrenaline, with Snowy’s bars capturing the current dystopian mood of 2020 while also never completely losing sight of his trademark wit and cheekiness as a wordsmith. Whilst Snowy’s style is firmly rooted in grime, Snowy has been steadily building a following, and formidable back catalogue to match, across a range genres. Over the past couple of years he’s been able to list some of the most exciting names in UK bass music as collaborators – including Murder He Wrote, Filthy Gears, Drone, Killjoy, Lenkemz, and most notably Sleaford Mods’ Jason Williamson on 2019’s ‘EFFED’.

RKS kingpin Roska steps up on remix duties. His position as UK Funky royalty has long been set in stone, but Roska also has long standing ties to the dubstep/140 world, whether by releasing on the seminal Tectonic label, or through collaborations with artists such as Newham Generals or Gemmy on his last album. Here he marries the sonics of the two worlds perfectly, giving the original a sub-bass laden and heavily percussive twist.

about

Durkle Disco Bristol, UK

Durkle Disco is a Bristol-based label with bass at its very core. First conceived as a place where grime, garage, hip-hop and dubstep could combine and entwine - with just as much attention paid to the MCs as the producers - the label has since evolved to become a natural home for the new strains of instrumental bass-driven music coming from Bristol’s next unstoppable wave of production talent. ... more
